Our Daily Grace!!!
November 9, 1909 – On this day, Kay Thompson was born and the world was graced.
Kay Thompson, born Catherine Louise Fink, was an American author, singer, vocal arranger, vocal coach, composer, musician, dancer and actress. She is best known as the creator of the Eloise children's books and for her role in the movie Funny Face.
Eloise is a girl who lives in the "room on the tippy-top floor" of the Plaza Hotel in New York City with her Nanny, her pugdog Weenie, and her turtle Skipperdee.
Thompson's goddaughter, Liza Minnelli, has been cited as a possible model for Eloise, as has the author herself. The illustrator said that the image for Eloise was based on a painting that his mother, Katherine Sturges Dodge, did in the 1930s.
In celebration of the Kay Thompson, Amazing Grace is transformed as Eloise.
