March 18, 1963 – On this day, Vanessa Williams was born and world was graced. 

Vanessa Williams is an American singer, actress, and fashion designer. She initially gained recognition as the first woman of African-American descent to receive the Miss America title when she was crowned Miss America 1984 in 1983. 

"Colors of the Wind" was a song for the Disney movie Pocahontas was sung by Vanessa Williams. It received a mostly positive reception from critics, with a number of them citing it as one of the best songs from a film. The song would go on to win the Academy Award for Best Original Song, the Grammy Award for Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media, and the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song, and became a top ten hit on the Billboard Hot 100. 

In celebration of the birthday of Vanessa Williams, Amazing Grace is metamorphosed into Pocahontas.
