Sleeping Beauty

Our Daily Grace!!!

April 5, 1930 – On this day, Mary Costa was born and the world was graced.

Mary Costa is an American opera singer and actress, who is best known for providing the voice of Princess Aurora in the 1959 Disney film Sleeping Beauty. Costa is an operatic soprano.

Princess Aurora, also known as Sleeping Beauty or Briar Rose, is a fictional character who appears in Walt Disney Productions' 16th animated feature film Sleeping Beauty (1959). Aurora is the only daughter of King Stefan and Queen Leah. Seeking revenge for not being invited to Aurora's christening, an evil fairy named Maleficent curses the newborn princess, foretelling that she will die on her 16th birthday by pricking her finger on a spinning wheel's spindle. Determined to prevent this, three good fairies raise Aurora as a peasant in order to protect her, patiently awaiting her 16th birthday – the day the spell is to be broken by a kiss from her true love, Prince Phillip.

In celebration of the birthday of Mary Costa, Amazing Grace is metamorphosed into Princess Aurora.
